At its core Making Connections in Hartford is a community-led change process. Its goal is to close the glaring financial and educational gaps between families in Hartford’s distressed neighborhoods and the Greater Hartford area and region. Making Connections’ success depends on the active engagement of stakeholders from all sectors of the community including the residents who make-up the target population.

Our mission is to strengthen and connect community-wide resources while mobilizing the public will to bring about the systemic changes that are needed to increase social and economic opportunities for vulnerable families. These families deserve equal access to a sound education, good jobs with benefits, and the resources to save for a better future.

Making Connections in Hartford's individual and organizational partners are joined together in a resident-focused, results-based, and data-driven community building effort in Hartford with a special emphasis on the Frog Hollow and Upper Albany neighborhoods. As the specific programs and services of Making Connections' partners begin to measurably improve conditions in these two neighborhoods, they will be expanded and replicated in other neighborhoods throughout the city.
